(Al-Raqqa) Abou Mouhammad Al-Massri, a high ranking leader in the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) was reportedly assassinated, Wednesday evening. Al-Massari, who holds the title of Emir, was the supervisor of the ISIL prison at the Tishreen Dam establishment in the Al-Raqqa countryside.
The Free Syrian Army (FSA) claimed responsibility of the assassination in an official statement to Syria Newsdesk made by its representative. The assassination was carried out in the Tal-Dikan area, located near the village of Sarreen, which has recently been witnessing fierce clashes between the Al-Raqqa Revolutionaries Brigade and ISIL forces.
The Tishreen Dam Prison is considered to be one of the most significant detainment facilities established by ISIL in the area. According to Al-Raqqa-based activists, several opposition activists and militants have been arrested by ISIL and held as prisoners inside the facility.
